Chih-Lin and have followed her work and career closely ever since she joined Bell Labs in 1987. She certainly is one of the most outstanding colleagues and associates that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing in my 41-year professional career at AT&T. Her scholarship in her research, innovation of new engineering technologies and systems, professional relationship with her colleagues, skill in technical management, astuteness in company strategy planning, and leadership in her field of endeavor all exhibit the degree of excellence that reflects exceptionally well her alma mater, the National Chiao Tung University. Above all, her drive to achieve excellence is one of her personal attributes in all of her pursuits.
Her contributions in the area of wireless communications and broadband access are well recognized by AT&T and the worldwide technical community as significant to the development of the telecom industry. Indeed, this is evidenced by the steady rise in her company career path and her numerous involvement in professional society activities. I will not elaborate on her notable technical and professional achievements as you can read from her biography. I would like to point out, however, that in my 14-year association with Chih-Lin, I have always felt proud that she represents exceptionally well her Chinese heritage, NCTU background, AT&T, her family and herself, wherever and whenever she is discussing technical issues, delivering a talk, chairing a conference, or representing her company to a world leader.
