Dr. Yuan Tseh Lee, a Nobel prize winner in Chemistry in 1986 and former President of Academia Sinica, has officially become an honorary professor of NCTU on November 30. The university held an award ceremony in the conference room of the NCTU Library and invited Dr. Lee to give a talk on ‘Cultivating Creativity’.
President Chung-Yu (Peter) Wu stated that “It was NCTU’s honor to appoint Dr. Lee as an honorary professor. ‘Energy and Environment’ is definitely the most important topic of the 21st century. Thus, Dr. Lee will provide guidance on environment and energy related research projects and act as the honorary Director of the Energy and Environmental Laboratory of the Diamond Program. It is hoped that under the guidance of Dr. Lee, we can make some contributions to mother earth.” Dr. Lee is also President of the International Council for Science (ICSU) (www.icsu.org). Hopefully, through his assistance and support, NCTU students will be able to assist ICSU with matters concerning international voluntary works.
