To strengthen the tie between NCTU and the University of Tokyo, an academic exchange agreement was signed on May 5^th, 2008. Professor Kimihiko Hirao, the Vice President of the University of Tokyo, came to Taiwan in person for the signing ceremony. According to the agreement, programs for student and faculty exchanges, and research cooperation between the two universities will be launched in the near future. Students from NCTU will have the chance to become an exchange student to the University of Tokyo for a maximum duration of one year; also, students from the University of Tokyo can take courses and study Mandarin Chinese in NCTU.
